"Angles of Aurora" started off as a simple boudoir afterthought; a light and fun photo project to portray feelings of warmth, joy and to an extent the wanderings of an imaginative procrastinating mind. Elisabeth actually chose the space and actively engaged in the art direction for this project given her background as a designer. Coincidentally shot on a lazy cloudy Saturday morning, the tone of this set evolved equivocally and yet organically to include more serious themes of yearning, separation and intimacy. Elisabeth and I both picked up on these layered emotions and created a visual ensemble which eventually presented to the viewer a whole host of varying sentiments. As with most long projects where my friends have acted as models, I wanted viewers to experience ephemeral bursts of exactly the same emotions us creators experienced while producing the set. If this visual essay brought back memories of a similar cosy, intimate, romantic, insightful morning – a space where time stood still, I believe we've connected on a very alluring and exquisite plane of thought!
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Rutam's work can be described as being aesthetically normative with a subtle rebellious twist. Working with fresh-faces under unconventional light and styling setups, he's been successful in bringing a unique perspective to conventional fashion and glamour photography. Rutam plays the part of a white collared brand manager, spreadsheet enthusiast and sales strategist during the day and slips into bouts of camera-addiction at night. Based in both Mumbai, India and Dnipro, Ukraine, he's had the good fortune of shooting a wide variety of interesting models of various artistic leanings against colourful, odd and arcane vistas.
